We’ll depart Fresno at 6:00 a.m. with a rest stop en-route at Casa de Fruta, a traveler’s dream set amongst the gentle splendor of the Diablo Mountain Range. While there, you’ll discover a family tradition of some of the sweetest, freshest variety of fruit anywhere on earth. Enjoy fresh baked goods, homemade candy, and a selection of ice cream to satisfy even the most demanding sweet tooth at Casa de Sweets and specialty coffees and fresh pies are always ready at Casa de Coffee, located in the Sweet Shop. At Casa de Wine, sample their award-winning wines from Zanger Vineyards including their classic Cabernet or their unique apricot, blackberry, pomegranate, or Santa Rosa plum fruit wines. They’re perfect with dessert or as a beginning in wine coolers. Looking for a meal? The gourmet grocery and deli always has sandwiches and box lunches available, or enjoy a meal at Casa de Restaurant. You can even place your order online and they’ll have it ready for you to enjoy upon arrival.

Following our rest stop, we’ll meet at Pier 33 to catch the ferry to Alcatraz Island. Also known as ‘The Rock,’ Alcatraz Island is a rocky island in San Francisco Bay, off the coast of California. Originally designated as a residence for military offenders in the mid-1800s, it became a U.S. Federal maximum-security prison in the 1930s, housing some of the era’s most dangerous civilian prisoners such as Al Capone, “Machine Gun” Kelly, and the Birdman of Alcatraz, Robert Stroud. The prison ceased operation in 1963, but you can escape with us to view the confinement and common areas of this unique bastion of history

After immersing ourselves in the history of this extraordinary national icon, we’ll depart San Francisco at 4:00 p.m. with a rest stop en-route. Our arrival back in Fresno is at approximately 8:30 p.m.
