Come along with us to explore the eclectic Rubel Castle in Glendora, this architectural wonder is an intriguing mix of rock structures built over the course of 26 years using discarded items. You’ll take a guided tour of this curious castle and learn the interesting history behind its many odd features including a Santa Fe Railroad caboose, a 70-foot-tall clock tower, vintage automobiles, three underground “dungeons” and a drawbridge.
You’ll also have time for lunch on your own and shopping in charming Old Pasadena, with its historic streets and alleyways, rustic brick facades, and architectural accents of Pasadena’s original business district that link the past to the present.
Considerable walking and/or numerous steps are involved, possibly on uneven surfaces. Elevators are not present at the destination. This tour may be considered unsuitable for persons with mobility restrictions. TOUR-SPECIFIC: Rubel Castle is NOT ADA accessible. No tour participation is allowed via wheelchairs, walkers, or cart assistance due to stairs, tunnels, and uneven surfaces. There are no sidewalks or handrails, and walking surfaces include gravel and bare ground. There are no rest benches along the tour route. A walking and standing ability of at least a 90-minutes is required. Restrooms require agility and balance due to steps with no handrails.
