Our journey begins at 7:00 a.m. by way of Highway 41 with a rest stop in Kettleman City, where you can grab a coffee or a quick snack as we traverse some of California’s beautiful wine country enroute to our destination.

This day at this beach promises a delightful blend of coastal charm, culinary delights, and vibrant festivities. Held annually in the heart of Pismo Beach, this lively event celebrates the town’s rich clam-digging history and beach culture. Start your day by strolling along the scenic Pismo Pier, where you can enjoy stunning ocean views and the fresh sea breeze. As the festival kicks off, indulge in a variety of clam-themed dishes from local food vendors, including the famous clam chowder and clam fritters. The festival also features live music, arts and crafts booths, and fun activities for all ages, creating a festive atmosphere that captures the essence of this coastal community.

Throughout the day, immerse yourself in the various events and competitions that make the Clam Festival unique. Watch or participate in the clam dig, where contestants search for the biggest clams on the beach or cheer on the contestants in the clam chowder cook-off, where local chefs showcase their best recipes. The festival parade, featuring colorful floats, marching bands, and local performers, winds through the streets of Pismo Beach, adding to the celebratory spirit. Following the day’s festivities, we’ll depart Pismo Beach at 4:00 p.m. with a rest stop enroute, arriving in Clovis at around 8:00 p.m.
