Join Best Tours as we travel to Open Cockpit Day at Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California near Merced. We will depart Fresno at 8:00 a.m. with an anticipated arrival at 9:00 a.m. Upon arrival, you will have plenty of time to participate in some of the many exhibits available at the museum.

You can tour the Presidential Aircraft, used by six former Presidential Administrations, take the courtesy shuttle to view the “Hidden Collection” hangar, flight simulators, dozens of historic aircraft open for viewing, military and law enforcement displays, and more.

Kids can also enjoy make and take model building, numerous children’s activities, and our expansive Food Court featuring burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and more!

Castle Air Museum is home to over seventy restored vintage military aircraft ranging from pre-WWII to the present-day fighters. The Museum houses a fascinating collection of wartime memorabilia, uniforms, historic photos, and personal military artifacts from the past century. We are proud to display the most complete lineage of Bomber Aircraft on the West Coast, dating from prior WWII to the end of the Cold War, spanning nearly 70 years.

Castle Air Museum presents a peek into the past and lends insight into the evolution of aircraft and the past milestones of aviation. It offers visitors of all ages a glimpse of what the future of aerospace might hold. Castle Air Museum has amassed the entire collection of U.S. Air Force jet fighters from America’s first operational jet fighter the Lockheed P-80 to the amazing General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon from the Korean War to Desert Storm.

We will depart the museum at 2:30 p.m. with an anticipated arrival in Fresno of approximately 3:30 p.m.
