We’ll depart from Fresno at 6:30 a.m. with a rest stop en route at Casa de Fruta, a traveler’s dream set amongst the gentle splendor of the Diablo Mountain Range. While there, you’ll discover a family tradition of some of the sweetest, freshest varieties of fruit anywhere on earth. Enjoy fresh baked goods, homemade candy, and a selection of ice cream to satisfy even the most demanding sweet tooth at Casa de Sweets and specialty coffees and fresh pies are always ready at Casa de Coffee, located in the Sweet Shop. At Casa de Wine, sample their award-winning wines from Zanger Vineyards including their classic Cabernet or unique apricot, blackberry, pomegranate, or Santa Rosa plum fruit wines. They’re perfect with dessert or as a beginning in wine coolers. Looking for a meal? The gourmet grocery and deli always has sandwiches and box lunches available, or enjoy a meal at Casa de Restaurant. You can even place your order online and they’ll have it ready for you to enjoy upon arrival.

Following our rest stop, we’ll be on our way to Monterey. Take in the expansive views of the Pacific Ocean and local wildlife from California’s iconic Pacific Highway 1. Upon arrival, you will have free time to enjoy Cannery Row on the Monterey Peninsula. Made famous in John Steinbeck’s novel of the same name, Cannery Row offers quaint shops to browse and restaurants to visit.

While in Monterey, we’ll visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. An aquarium unlike any other, with 623 separately named species of marine life on display, the Monterey Bay Aquarium holds thousands of marine plants and animals, and it benefits from its oceanside location by circulating the fresh ocean water throughout all the exhibits. The 322,000 square-foot aquatic attraction that opened in 1984 on Monterey’s Cannery Row houses more than 35,000 animals of 550-plus species in nearly 200 exhibits and features many of Monterey Bay’s amazing sea creatures. Monterey Bay Aquarium’s exhibits include the million-gallon Open Sea Galleries, Sea Otters, Giant Pacific Octopus, The Jellies Experience, 28-foot-tall Kelp Forest, Sandy Shore & Aviary, Splash Zone and Penguins, and Mission to the Deep. More than 1.8 million people visit the marine facility annually and are frequently listed as the number one or among the top five of the United States’ best aquariums by various parent and travel publications. Our tour time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The suggested time in the Aquarium is approximately 2-3 hours. Please be aware that the Aquarium no longer allows in and out privileges with your ticket, so once you exit, you will no longer be allowed back inside.

After you’ve enjoyed the Aquarium, you may have additional time to enjoy the surrounding area.

We’ll depart Cannery Row at 4:00 p.m. with a rest stop en route, for an expected arrival back in Fresno at approximately 8:00 p.m.
